Simon’s experience of real world sport and documentary photography is a big influence on the advertising work he does. He likes to keep it as real and energetic as possible to spark the kind of moments that make great pictures.

A TEAM TO FIT THE BRIEF – Simon can work alone but builds a team for bigger productions. A team of five worked on EE Fans recently and over 50 on McDonald’s Olympics.

FULL PRODUCTION – Simon develops the treatment, casts and rehearses people, finds the right location and designs the production. The team stages sports tournaments, styles hundreds of fans and uses music, video, comedy, dancers and industrial heaters to bring the ideas to life.

EXPERIENCE – Work for clients like Audi, Umbro, Sony, Fiat and McDonald’s has been recognised in the Association of Photographers, Campaign Press, D&AD and Cannes Lion awards. Simon founded the Football Association’s official photo library with 250,000 pictures and has built and run archives for the England team, The David Beckham Academy, Everton and Tottenham Hotspur.

Towers over the Goodsyard

Simon was commissioned by The East End Preservation Society to make a short film to raise awareness on the proposed Bishopsgate Goodsyard redevelopment in Shoreditch.

Q: FOOTBALLERS HAVE A CERTAIN PUBLIC PERCEPTION. HOW HAVE YOU FOUND WORKING WITH THEM?

A: They’re mostly like the lads I play with at Berry Brow AFC in the Huddersfield District League but with much better facilities, especially the showers. And bigger watches.

 OUR APPROACH | We staged our own mini-Olympics at a major indoor arena with a hand-picked crowd of 500 spectators and 20 actors. It was photographed by 4 photographers, 2 Super Slow Motion crews and a 10 strong production team. Shooting in this way allowed us full control over the days events while allowing us to capture the excitement and atmosphere created by live sporting action.
